Can dogs (or any other animals) really smell fear?

Absolutely yes. Many animals, including Bees, can smell fear. This is possible only because when a person is afraid, he/she sweats and this sweat has a chemical within it that gives off a scent to animals that the person is afraid. I’ve seen it work, and I’ve experienced it myself. If you walk near a hive of Bees are are completely unafraid, you will NOT get stung. If you ARE afraid, they’ll nail you every time. Predators can “tell” when another animal is afraid, not only because of the scent, but because of the body language of the animal. And, they capitalize on this fear to capture their prey. If the prey animal, no matter how small, turns and fights back at the predator, often times the predator will run away. But if the animal runs, the predator will get him.
