Can dogs eat boiled chicken everyday?

• By: Kara McCarty El Segundo, CA Replied on 04/19/2011 Garlic or onions are not recommended in dogs as they can be toxic and the toxicity is accumulative meaning small amounts can build up to toxic levels over time. Onions are more toxic than garlic but neither should be fed. Supplementing with chicken is probably not a good idea either as it increases the protein levels in their diet which can lead to weight gain or stress on a dog’s kidneys as it ages. Young dogs can probably handle it but it may cause problems as they age. By supplementing their diets she is also changing the carefully calculated balance of the canned food they are eating. I’m sure she is doing it out of love but it’s best she stop this practice. If she wants to add something fresh vegetables like carrots or green beans are fine.
