Can DOE Oak Ridge Operations do Classified Work?
Absolutely. The Oak Ridge National Laboratory is dual certified by both the DOE and the Department of Defense to handle information at Top Secret and Restricted Data levels. The Y-12 National Security Complex is certified by DOE to handle Top Secret and Restricted Data and operates the DOE-ORO Sensitive Compartmented Information Facility (SCIF). The SCIF meets the requirements of Director of Central Intelligence Directive 1/21, Manual for Physical Security Standards for SCIF, effective 30 January 1994. The DOE-ORO Federal Office Building also has the capability to handle information up to Top Secret and Restricted Data.
