I don’t think that dexedrine, dexamphetamine, dextroamphetamine, or any other amphetamine can be used successfully to treat an anxiety disorder, despite the counterintuitive treatment of ADD and ADHD with amphetamines. My rather bold interpretation is that you do not have an anxiety disorder but depression with anxiety, which is what I’ve taken dexedrine for 22 years for. It is, for me, the perfect antidepressant in conjunction with mood stabilizers. I tried to commit suicide on it once when I was 13 and it knocked me right out of the depression. We have used it regularly since as an adult to keep me functioning during depressing or anxious times. It is a “street” drug, a Schedule I drug, and can give a high if not appropriately used; with ADHD it should cause a calming effect. I have been known to take a full dose and be napping half an hour later. It has saved my life and my profession many a time. I would ask your doctor why you felt “normal” on it, and could you have been misdiagno
