Can Desktop Videoconference replace telephone conference calls or face-to-face meetings?
Desktop Videoconferencing is not a replacement for face-to-face meetings but is useful when a face-to-face meeting is not practical. Desktop Videoconferencing is a flexible tool, featuring a range of electronic collaboration tools such as a shared whiteboard and the ability to share electronic documents in addition to the ‘video and voice’ part of meetings. Desktop Videoconferencing is designed to work with all meeting participants sitting at individual computers in separate campuses or locations. The audio and video features are not well suited to having several participants in the same location.
