Can denatured alcohol take off car paint?

I use WD-40 if the paint is over the original paint and the original paint has been waxed especially with a once a year car polish. Brake parts cleaner can do it or carburetor cleaner but these can take it to bare metal on some paint jobs. Good Luck!!

No. You need turpentine or something similar. I clean the spots on my car with denatured alcohol before I repaint them. It takes away dust and such. It cleans the grease off too.
