Can Decision Making facilitation in the workplace increase uy-in?
F. Hill-Miers City University Deep Democracy (DD) is a new and innovative way of facilitating the decision making process and conflict resolutions. It is being used and taught in several consultancies but is yet to be evaluated. Lewis’ (in press) DD Methodology shows a new way of facilitating the process to encourage all the participant views and gain ‘buy-in’ from all participants. DD is practised as a set of progressive steps, which allow the group to voice all the opinions and make the most informed and widely agreed upon decision available. A decision-making scale has been developed to measure the outcome of the facilitation process. General self-efficacy, mood and disposition to trust will be measured throughout the study using existing scales. Goal commitment will also be measured to extend on the buy-in questions within the decision-making scale. The relationships between all areas will be assessed.
