Can damaged skin really be repaired?

A5: Sadly the answer to this question is no. The cells responsible for replenishing the skin can be damaged by UV sunlight. Once they are damaged they cannot be mended and these damaged cells are responsible for dry flaky complexions and fine lines. However if your skin is treated in a particular way, it is possible to maximise the function of the undamaged skin cells. The result is that the effect of the damaged skin cells upon the complexion is masked. That is, the appearance of a more youthful skin is restored. Uneven pigmentation due to sun damage can be reduced. It is only with very invasive treatments that uneven skin pigmentation can be more effectively removed. These invasive treatments increased “down time”, risk of infection and ironically the risk of rebound hyper pigmentation or extreme hypo pigmentation.
