Not really. There’s some buggy and disabled code (search for PRESERVE_PERMISSIONS in the mailing list archives) which you might try and fix if you were motivated. The usual suggested workaround is to make creation of links part of your build process (in a script or Makefile or the like) and version the files that create them.
