Can curiosity about the unknown outweigh the fear of it?
Way too many times! (and too many scars Curiosity about the unknown is survival trait; you don’t know if the unknown is a threat until you know the nature of the unknown. And therein lays the crux of the push-pull of survival instinct: run away, or check it out and . . . perhaps die. If you don’t learn about it, it might follow you and bite you if you run … so maybe you need to go forward and see what it is … but oh so cautiously … ready to run at first roar. LOL! A lot of caveman got eaten teaching us both the value of knowing when to run away — and how careful we should sometimes be when going into the unknown. But for those who did, and lived: what a triumph for us all!
