Can credit card default result in impounding of car via a mechanics lien??
Man, with a SEARS (ROEBUCK) credit card, goes to a big SEARS store and notices they have an auto repair shop, to boot. He drives his car in, has $1,500 worth of work done, and then “pays” with his SEARS credit card (NOT a debit card). However, he NEVER pays the debt, and, indeed, simply outright DEFAULTS on the entire credit card. He never uses that SEARS card again. But now, almost 2-years later, he returns to that SAME Sears auto shop to have a tire repaired under the original SEARS warranty related to his $1,500 worth of work done there 2-years past. QUESTION: Can that SEARS shop immediately IMPOUND his car for defaulting on his SEARS credit card??? Please be advised that this is NOT a joke. If, in your reply, you intend on just being witty/funny, then please pass.
