Can cracked eggs grow the salmonella bacteria?
The egg being cracked won’t cause salmonella to grow. Salmonella is usually present inside the egg from infected chickens. Thus, this is why it is bad to eat raw eggs regardless of whether or not it’s cracked. That being said, the greater issue is that a cracked egg exposes the egg to further bacteria and fungus in the air that can infect the egg through the crack and cause more GI problems if eaten.
