Can CorrView ® be installed into an older system?
A. Yes. The major advantage of CorrView ® is that it suffers all the same negative effects of corrosion as the pipe itself. While an existing piping system will have likely accumulated a build-up of particulates, micro biological growth, surface pitting, and surface deposits, those deposits will also accumulate on the face of the CorrView ® monitor to produce a similar effect. Compared to an aging metal surface, CorrView ® will lose a higher amount of metal in its initial weeks of exposure – after which time the corrosion rate will decline. This is a common finding where areas of new pipe are installed within an older system. As CorrView ® corrodes and takes on a closer appearance to the actual piping interior, it will better wear at the rate of the piping itself.
