Can corrections be made if a document is improperly docketed?
If an error is made in docketing, court personnel can edit the docket entry or mark it as “entered in error.” Attorneys can neither edit nor mark docket entries. If an attached document is not the correct document, it may be removed, but there is no capacity to edit the actual document. The training provided to the attorneys should stress the importance of correct docketing; also valuable is the lesson imparted by having one’s name attached to an incorrect docket entry. Each court must determine its detailed local procedures for allowing modifications to docket entries previously posted to the system.
