Can controlled substance prescriptions be prescribed electronically?
Federal law allows controlled substance medications to be prescribed electronically. However, the Texas Health and Safety Code requires that all Schedule II controlled substance medications be issued on the Official Prescription form. For Texas registrants, only Schedules III to V controlled substances can be prescribed electronically.
