To receive SICA funding, applicants must have collected and analyzed data to determine their community’s priority risk and protective factors—and included strategies to address those risk and protective factors—in their community plans. The NRPFS Survey was developed to assist communities to collect information on those risk and protective factors that is not readily available through other sources. Information on risk and protective factors that is not provided by the survey include factors for which better data is available from other sources (e.g. information on mobility rates and early academic failure is collected by local schools, and data around economic deprivation is available through the Census). Participation in the NRPFS Survey has never been a requirement for SICA funding, but community coalitions that did not participate in the survey must be able to document the validity of the data and the data collection method used to determine priority community risk and protective f
