Can Christians Participate in Political or Military Office?
When considering the ability for Christians to participate in various roles in society the guiding rule is, can the Christian walk their faith with integrity while performing their duties. A less controversial case would be the pornography industry. A person cannot walk their Christian faith with integrity from any aspect the pornography industry. Whether it is the filming of, performing in, the marketing of, or the purchasing of pornography there is serious conflict with central Christian values. A person does not get a pass to participate because they are in financial difficulty and pornography would solve the problem. Neither do we get a pass in any other industry. We are not exempt from our Christian walk because we are in public office. If your job or position requires the use of violence, then that role is inconsistent with your call as a follower of Jesus who calls us to love our enemies.
