Can China Really Become the Next Superpower?
“. “China has sustained a prolonged period of fast economic growth. There is clear evidence that China has a big ambition to become the next superpower after the collapse of the former USSR. China’s achievements in the past three decades are admirable but it faces significant challenges and constraints in the next stage of development. Under the leadership of Hu and Wen, new policies are emerging to tackle all the pressing problems. Whether the new policies will work for China needs time to be tested. If China is able to resolve these problems and maintain high growth, then it is likely that it will become the next superpower neck and neck with the US in another 30 years time.
