For children, Zithromax (Azithromycin) is commonly prescribed for many mild to moderate infections such as otitis media [an infection of the middle ear], strep throat, tonsillitis, sinusitis, pneumonia, or bronchitis. It is not recommended for babies who are below 6 months in age, while only the oral suspension is recommended for children who weigh under 45 kgs.
