Can children get sick, but not have the spots of chicken pox?

It would be very unusual for a child to get sick with chicken pox but have no spots. Generally the younger they are the less severe they get it. My son was 13months old when he got them and had maybe 40-50 spots all up. Those with chicken pox are infectious for a few days before any symptoms up until all the blisters are scabbed over. The incubation period is 2-3 weeks. It starts with cold like symptoms for a few days then red spots appear that turn into clear fluid filled blisters. Sounds like your youngest may have just had a virus, they may still end up getting chicken pox yet. Especially if your eldest has it.
