Can children at the Abandoned Baby Center be adopted?
A. At the Abandoned Baby Center (ABC), we know that the best place for a child is with a family. Even the best institution, with well-trained housemothers, will fall short of the love and nurturing a child finds with a caring parent. Realizing this, our social workers help local families adopt our abandoned and orphaned babies. They also work to reunite babies with relatives whenever possible. While international adoptions occasionally occur, most of our children who find homes do so with local Kenyan families. Feed The Children is not an adoption agency. But we have identified agencies highly rated for handling African adoptions. If you live in the U.S. and are interested in adopting a child from our ABC, please be aware of specific rules and requirements of the Kenyan government, such as the 90-day foster parent residency restriction.
