Can CFU members assist other units during a bushfire?
During major bushfires, CFU Members may volunteer to assist other units outside their normal Area of Operations, but may only do so with the approval of a senior officer (Inspector or higher) of the NSWFB. Similarly, CFU Members may volunteer to participate in hazard reduction operations outside their Area of Operation in order to gain experience. Failure to obtain the necessary approval can impact on insurance coverage.
