Can certain material inhibit an ERMI sample?

0

Most ERMI samples have no problems with inhibition. However, materials such as drywall and soil have been known to inhibit the polymerase chain reactions (PCR) used in ERMI analyses, and large amounts of these materials should be avoided if possible. If there is inhibition in an ERMI sample, it will be detected by a reference organism that is used throughout the processing of an ERMI. The laboratory will correct for this, and re-run the sample if possible. If accurate results can not be obtained, the technician will be notified.
