Can cells directly interact in the LiveCell Array?

Non-adherent cells loaded onto the Primary Cell (15mm) and Single Cell (20 mm) array will NOT be able to make direct contact with adjacent cells. If direct contact is required we suggest using a slide with a larger picowell diameter. Certain adherent cells, such as neuronal cells, extend projections and can make direct contact with neighboring cells in single cell sized picowells. This property is highly dependent on cell type, and therefore must be tested by the researcher. In addition, secreted factors can diffuse freely between adjacent cells, thus causing indirect interaction.
