Can cats live with birds in a caged backyard?

0

Birds can die just from cat’s saliva or even a small cat scratch due to the bacteria they harbor. If you have any type of bird together with any type of cat, you run the risk of losing your feathered friend. Trust me, we had a rather large bird get a small scratch on her leg from one of our cats. Even with the antibiotics she was given immediately after it happened, she died the next day. Same thing with saliva. We have cats and birds in our household but the birds are NEVER out if we’re aren’t there to supervise. Even tho our cats know that the birds are off limits, we can’t take the chance that they’ll play (which one of our larger birds loves to try to do with the cats) and get hurt…
