Can campers bring a cell phone to camp?
No, we do not allow cell phones at camp. In these times we realize that many parents want to have an option to contact their children. Camp is a safe place to let them have a bit of freedom and independence. We want them to make new friends and face a few small challenges. We don’t want them spending time calling or texting their friends back home. We do offer e-mail messages for your camper via the online Gallery program. In addition, an unauthorized call to a parent when homesick can often make the problem worse, not better. This is especially true if our camp counselors don’t know about it because the cell phone was hidden from us. Lastly, the technology of cameras on cell phones creates a potential problem of taking pictures in sensitive areas. Camper bathrooms and changing areas are not appropriate to have cameras in. If your child needs to have cell phone with them because of travel or other reasons, simply have them turn it in to the camp staff upon arrival. We will return it to
