Can business ethics be taught?

There is considerable attention being paid to ethics in business, but almost all studies on the effectiveness of ethics training have been on non-business students. This experiment examined the effectiveness of a 12-hour module and a full course on moral development of graduate and undergraduate business students using Rest s “Defining Issues Test.” Students who took the full ethics course showed significant improvements in moral development but students who were exposed to the module did not show similar changes. This paper reviews the empirical studies on effectiveness of ethics programs. Jones, W.A.
