Can Breville Juicers juice wheatgrass and other greens?
Not really. Wheatgrass in particular is extremely fibrous and many juicer brands have difficulty producing any juice from the wheat grass blades. The Breville Juice Fountain juicers are no exception. They are centrifugal style juicers and there are no centrifugal juicers that can effectively handle wheatgrass. The reason is because of the style of extraction. Centrifugal juicers like the Brevilles have a powerful, high rpm, high speed motor that controls the cutting blade. The cutting blade chops and cuts at very high speeds which makes it ideal for firm fruits and vegetables. For example with a carrot the cutter has a firm piece of root vegetable to chop and cut. Wheatgrass on the other hand, is a grass. It bends and sways rather than being a firm object. That sway causes it to slip over and under the cutting blade in centrifugal style machines. The blade just can’t get a good grip on the wheatgrass. Instead of a fast cutting action, what wheatgrass needs is a slow squeezing action th
