Can Borland Enterprise Server Services be disabled?

0

Yes. All server services (e.g. Apache, SonicMQ, etc.) can be stopped or started at any time from the Console. Likewise, partitions can be stopped or started at anytime to put whole applications out of or into service. When a partition starts it will activate all the partition services that are marked as enabled in it (e.g. EJB container, Naming, JTA, etc.). If a partition does not need to offer a particular service it can be disabled in that partition from the Console. For instance, if a partition only hosts EJBs you might want to disable the tomcat web container in the partition. The configuration of a partition is independent of the configuration of all other partitions. This means that, for example, one partition can be configured to only provide the Web container, another the EJB container, and a third the naming service. Or a single partition can provide all three services. Or two partitions can provide a combination of the services.
