Can black and white photography survive?
Your question reminded me of the other night. I have a sort of back burner interest in astronomy. I have a telescope, which I dust off from time to time. Admittedly, I am not very good with it, but once in awhile I get a good view of something. One of those somethings was the moon. I was surprised at how colorless it seemed, so stark, so white. It was like looking at a living black and white picture. There is something very pure and unadulterated about a black and white picture. Shape form and texture come through with clarity and power. In the hands of a master such as Ansel Adams, a black and white can be a powerful thing.
