If a child remembers their birth family, they may wish to keep some sort of contact with them. If the adoption agency and a birth parent and adoptive parents are happy with this, it can be arranged. The two families will usually exchange photographs and letters through the Adoption Service Post-box system. For older children, face-to-face contact may continue.
