There is no evidence that a healthy woman may develop pancreatitis due to birth control pills. Patients with hypertriglyceridemia (elevated triglycerides) or a history of pancreatitis should avoid BCP with high doses of estrogen. Estrogen may further increase blood levels of lipids (specifically triglycerides) that may trigger pancreatitis.
