Can Biotane be used the same as diesel?
For the most part, Biotane can be used in blends with conventional diesel from as low as 2% (B-2) and all the way up to 100% (B100); the most common form is in a 20% (B-20) blend. In cold weather applications biodiesel will thicken at slightly warmer temperatures than conventional diesel and some precautions are required. When using biodiesel in cold weather climates the lower blend levels have fewer problems than the higher blends. When BIOTANE is blended with conventional diesel it will stay in suspension and when combined with normal winterizing precautions of conventional diesel cold weather problems are minimized. In some instances, diesel motors and fuel systems manufactured prior to 1994 may require some modifications when using blends higher than B-35. Many OEMs suggest the use of Viton seals or other non-rubber seals when the higher blends are used particularly with B-100. BIOTANE offers increased lubricity at all blend levels, which reduces engine wear and makes the component
