Can BGS supply historical series of mineral statistics for different countries?
We have annual production, export and import statistics, by mass or volume, for all minerals and metals, except construction minerals, covering all countries in the world since the year 1913. These data are provided by a world-wide network of sources comprising official publications, government departments, companies, trade associations and individuals. Where official trade statistics are unavailable we can provide estimates based on data from trading partner countries. Quality assurance in production statistics is provided by regular participation in international working groups. A 5-year run of the world production and trade statistics is published annually in a single volume. In addition the United Kingdom Minerals Yearbook, also published annually, provides information on mineral production and the minerals industry in Britain.
