Can bamboo grow in humid places?

Yes, it loves humidity & grows just about everywhere. There is even a species that grows as far north as Wisconsin, where I live. Running bamboo is invasive and many home-owners consider it a weed. This bamboo spreads by underground rhizomes and can spread quickly. Install root barriers to prevent bamboo growth in unwanted areas. Rhizomes can grow 5 feet or more a year and groves can double in size every year. Clumping bamboo are noninvasive and only grow an inch or so every year. Here is a link from Georgia (pretty humid there) http://pubs.caes.uga.
