Unfortunately, there is a possiblity to both. Snakes can be quite strong, but then again, that would be kind of hard for a snake to do. And ball pythons are in high demand, so he could have been stolen. So, the best you can do right now is look for him. You should search in small dark places he could have gotten into. Then search places where it gets the hottest. But do not delay making “Missing Snake” signs, hopefully you’ll have a picture of him (and put on the sign that he is docile and doesn’t bite – because people and snakes typically aren’t a good mix). Also, go around to your neighbors – ask if they have seen him and ask them to immediately contact you if they see him, and let them know its okay to pick them up, if he doesn’t have a tendancy to bite. If and when you get him, take him to a vet, mites and tics could have easily gotten on him, and the temperature shock isn’t good for him.
