Can babies breathe underwater?
if they’re having fun babies are natural born swimmers-they can’t actually breathe but they are just plain good at swimming -its when they get older and bigger that negative associations with water and gneral physical changes affect their ability to swim. the pictures are completely real–babies just plain love water–they do live in it for nine months after all!
Yes baby can certainly can as when we were foetus when we were still developing, we developed gills fish like that’s how we could breathe. That’s why we have got umbilical cord to get our foods from. However, when we grow up those properties disappear as when we were young our body starts to adapt to its new environment that is why new born baby cries after being birth.
They can’t swim, but they have a “dive reflex”. This does something along the lines of stopping blood going to unneeded parts of the body, and being concentrated on other vital organs. Also, a valve closes off in their throat, stopping them accidentally breathing in water. There may be other things it does, but those are the only ones I can think of off the top of my head! And I assume that this is the thing you were asking about? Hope it helps.
