Can asylum seekers work? Can they attend college?
Previously, there was an assumption that all claims for asylum should be dealt with within six months and that if a claim wasn’t the person could seek permission to work. This came to be seen as a right to work after six months and has now been ended. The Government has also recently clamped down on further education, and generally it is now only English language classes which can be funded.
