Can Apple Safari be muted independently from I-Tunes?
Yes and No. When you get audio from Safari, it is not Safari per se that is doing the audio. It is the web site that you are visiting. If you can mute the audio, it will be because the person who built the web site and put the audio on the page also gave the option to mute or turn down the volume. But the volume control is not a part of Safari. When I visit a web site that has audio which one would not expect to be there, I send an email to the web master telling him that although he thinks the song he forced on me is quite a nice song, it is HIS choice of music and that it interferes with MY choice of music which I was already listening to. I then block the web site with parental controls so that I don’t make the mistake of visiting that web site again. Normally, the web master replies with a whiny comment about how he doesn’t want to remove the music from his web site. Being the arrogant jerk that he is, this is never a surprise to me.
