Can APPE participation privileges be cancelled?
Participation as a student in the Advanced Pharmacy Practice Experience course series is a privilege given to those who have satisfied all prerequisites. Under certain conditions, the Department of Pharmacy Practice reserves the right to cancel its obligation to provide such assignments. Specifically, any student who steals any assets, property, and particularly drugs, from any participating facility will be denied the privilege of future course participation. Students, who are under the influence of alcohol or a drug substance for non-medical purposes, or who have not been cleared for assignment based on a criminal background check, may also lose their participation privilege. Students with substance abuse problems are encouraged to communicate with the Dr. George Downs (g.downs@usp.edu), Dr. Lisa Lawson (l.lawson@usp.edu), or the Dean of Students (215-596-8529) for assistance. The intent of this policy is to protect APPE rotation facilities and the integrity of the program.
