Can anything happen to a horses hooves with snow in them?

You can spray the hooves with Pam to keep the snow form packing in his hooves. The most damage that snow and ice can do to them is bruise the bottom of his hooves. Just pick his hooves and you will be able to see the bruise because his hooves will be clean from the snow. Hope I’ve helped!

Do your best to pick the snow and manure out. You just have to be careful that the ‘snowballs’ on his hooves won’t make him slip and slide in the barn. It’s just like when we get crud on and under our fingernails…there’s nothing a good cleaning won’t fix. The smell was probably just the manure, which definitely doesn’t smell like roses!

It should be fine, mine gets snow stuck in hers and it usually falls out when she’s running around. No biggie.

Congrats, your horse has thrush. . . go to the tack store, buy the green gel, pick out the feet as good as you can, put the thrush gel on the hoof. You should have cleaned out his hooves every day. . . and now I suggest until you can get his feet looked at you do it every day.

i put corn oil on the bottoms before i go out on rides. It keeps the snow off.
