Can anything be done about the early start to baseball and softball practice? Monday, Feb. 15, is the official opening date for spring practice in the state, and for most baseball and softball players, it will mean some frigid days early in the season as they bundle up against the cold to prepare for the start of play. Coaches have talked off and on over the years about the problems the early start for their sport causes, but few have been able to present a united front and do anything significant to get the start of the season moved back to a warmer time on the calendar.
