Can anyone think of a poem with an Iambic Pentameter rhythm?
Try these lines from Longfellow: Once in days no more remembered (8) Ages nearer the beginning (8) When the Heavens were closer to us (8) And the Gods were more familiar (8) In the Northland lived a hunter (8) With ten tall and comely daughters (8) All these women married warriors (8) Married brave and haughty husbands (8) Handsome men with belts of wampum (8) Handsome men with paint & feathers (8) Only Oweenee the youngest (8) Laughed and flouted all her lovers (8) All her young and handsome suitors (8) And then married old Oseo (8) Poor Oseo old and ugly (8) etc. Get into a rhythm like this – pick a subject and go for it.
