Can anyone tell me which three guitar chords are used for Manchester Rambler?
Answer Hi Arthur, This one could not be easier – it’s only two chords. Now I can’t tell you exactly where Maccoll pitched this, because I don’t have it written down, but you only need to know the relationship between the two chords and you can pitch it pretty well anywhere you like (there, that shows I’m not so much of a purist that I demand adherence to the original pitch!). I’d start off using D and A, as I’ve written it out. If that seems a strain, try G in place of D and D in place of A – or C in place of D and G in place of A. I’ve tried to position the chords on the important beats, but it only lines up if you see it in a fixed font (try courier). Also you’ll need to fill in some repeats of course, to make a texture to sing against.
