Can anyone tell me what camera calibration is/means in terms I can understand?
They may be referring to colour calibration. This refers to the fact that how our eyes perceive colour is different to how the camera’s sensor represents it. Also once you copy an image to your computer, even though the bits and bytes in the image are the same, the picture may look different on your monitor and printer because they all have a “colour bias” that is dependant on the technical limitations of each device. Colour profile calibration refers to the process to try to get the printer photo looking as consistent as possible between the monitor and printer.
