Hi, The M87 is the key focus for Samsung this year with lots off advertisement being based on it this year. The M87 is the best of the two, M87 has many better advantages than the R87 like: -Full 1080p HD (R87 only 720p or 1080i max) -Super Clear Panel (only on the M87) Basically the R87 is the basic entry model for Samsung and the M87 is the premium model for 2007.
