Can anyone tell me the difference between purified water and distilled water?
Purified water has many meanings, but mostly, it means that the water has been filtered mechanically or chemically. The major impurities have been removed, and it has been tested against particulate standards. Some filters are better than others, but none of these filters removes everything. Distilled water has been boiled, and that steam condensed into a clean bottle, leaving all other solids behind, since they do not vaporize. This is a very expensive process, but it removes all elements that are solid below 250 degrees F like calcium and magnesium and lead, etc. This is about as pure as you can get, even though there is still the possibility of organic compounds making it through. You can even double distill the water. I hope this helps.
