The northeast part of Nova Scotia is Cape Breton Island, which is now connectetd to the rest of Nova Scotia by a causeway. The Bay of Fundy has the highest tides in the world. Prior to the atom bomb, the biggest man-made explosion ever occured in Halifax Harbour when two ships, one carrying explosives, collided. Many people were killed an many more were blinded as they were looking out windows at the fire in the harbour when the explosion occurred. The Acadiens of Nova Scotia (and surrounding provinces) were driven out by the British. Many ended up in Louisiana where they became known as “Cajuns” Many of the Titanic victims are buried in Nova Scotia. The Maritime Museum in Halifax has a great Titanic exhibit.
