Can anyone tell me if youneed a bt phone line in order to get virgin broadband or tiscalli?
I went through this nightmare quite recently. The short answer is yes, if you don’t already have an active phone line then you will have to go through BT or the Post Office before Tiscali, Virgin or anyone else will take you on. Of course, if you already have a line with another provider, such as Toucan (just an example), then there is no problem, you can switch over to whomever you want, contract permitting. Also, if you live in a suitable area you may be able to get cable (ie, with Virgin) which avoids the whole problem of going through BT.
