I can cut to the quick for you. Unless one of the grandparents of one of your grandparents was a full-blooded member of a tribe, you won’t qualify for any Native American scholarships. Your grandparents would know that info right off because it would also mean that until 20 years ago they weren’t paying any income taxes. So that being out of the way, if you still want to research your family tree, you do it the old-fashioned way…one generation at a time. Start with your parents and grandparents and find out everything they know about their parents and grandparents. Document it all, then go out to get all of the birth, marriage and death records to substantiate the family line. You’ll also use census, church and military records. For help in finding them, visit the nearest Family History Center at a Mormon church in your area. They not only will help you find the records, but will also teach you how to document everything and keep it organized.
